I want to thank you all for the wonderful welcome you have given me and my family. I am very excited to serve as your pastor. I see a bright future for this church and the Lone Oak community. This year at annual conference there were three churches that closed their doors and eight others that merged to become four. This means that seven United Methodist Churches with over 500 years combined history closed down. The United Methodist Church as a denomination has to focus more on outreach, evangelism, and ministry outside the walls of our churches. I thank God that this church is focused on outreach and ministry but we have so much more to do.
Our Father's business is never over. We can grow this church and keep the history alive! All we have to do is work together to do what we can and never give up. There will be times when we plan something and no one shows up. That's ok. If we do not have events that draw people to our church, they will never show up. It is the Field of Dreams. If we build it, they will come. If we have something for people to come for, they will come. Together we are the hands and feet of Jesus and together we will minister to our community. It will take a lot of hard work, but together we can do it. I pray that we will all grow in Grace and follow our Lord all the days of our lives. If we keep our eyes on God and remember to always strive to advance His kingdom, we will fulfill the great commission and this church will have another 100 plus years of fellowship. Thank you all again and God bless. Chad Hill
