Hymn – What a Friend We Have in Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
o what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!
Call to Worship
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us
rejoice and be glad in it.
This
is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
The
hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship Him.
Enter
his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to Him,
bless His name!
Opening Prayer
O God, our Guide and
Guardian, you have led us apart from the busy world into the quiet of your
house. Grant us grace to worship you in Spirit and in truth, to the comfort of
our souls and the upbuilding of every good purpose and holy desire. Enable
us to do more perfectly the work to which you have called us, that we may not
fear the coming of the night, when we shall resign into your hands the tasks
which you have committed to us. So may we
worship you not with our lips at this hour, but in word and deed all the days
of our lives; through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Amen.
Invitation to the Word: Romans 6: 1b-11
Hymn – When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the
Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it Lord that I should boast, save in
the death of Christ my God
All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood.
Matthew 10:24-39
Sermon
Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried,
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick
and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
Hymn – This Little Light of Mine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine.
Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine.
Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine,
let it shine.
Benediction

Hymn – Be Thou My Vision
Be Thou my vision, oh Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Call
to Worship:
Trust in the Lord and do good.
May the Lord give strength to the
people!
O taste and see that the Lord is good!
God is our refuge and strength.
Opening Prayer:
Almighty and everlasting God, in whom we live and move
and have our being, you created us for yourself, so that our hearts are
restless until they find rest in you. Grant to us such piety of heart and
strength of purpose that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing your
will, and no weakness from doing it. In your light may we see life
clearly and in you service find perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.

Hymn – Are Ye Able, Said the Master
Are ye
able, said the Master, to be crucified with Me?
Yea, the sturdy dreamers answered, to the death
we follow Thee.
Lord, we are able. Our spirits are Thine.
Remold them, make us, like Thee, divine.
Thy guiding radiance above us shall be
A beacon to God, to love and loyalty.

Come, Thou Fount of Every
Blessing
Come Thou fount of every blessing, tune
my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy never ceasing, call for songs
of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming
tongues above.
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it, mount of
Thy redeeming love.

Hymn – “Morning Has Broken”
Morning has broken… like the first
morning
Blackbird has spoken… like the first bird
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them springing… fresh from the Word
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit
from heaven
Like the first dew fall… on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness… of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness… where His feet pass.

If we love one another, God
lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.

rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought.
