As a shepherd seeks a lost sheep,
So God seeks and saves the lost.
Like a woman who searches for a lost coin until it is found,
So God rejoices over one soul restored to wholeness.
As a father receives a returning wayward son,
So God welcomes us, and lets the past be the past.
Therefore let us praise God in thanksgiving that we are received.
Let us receive and welcome and rejoice over one another in the name of Jesus Christ.
Call to Prayer

O God, in mystery and silence you are present in our lives, bringing new life out of destruction, hope out of despair, growth out of difficulty.  We than you that you do not leave us alone but labor to make us whole.  Help us to perceive your unseen hand in the unfolding of our lives, and to attend to the gentle guidance of your Spirit, that we may know the joy you give your people.  Amen.

Come to Christ, that living stone, rejected by the world, but in God's sight chosen and precious.
We have responded to Christ's call, and seek to be built into a spiritual house, a living reminder of God's presence on earth.
Once we were no people, but now we are God's people, called out of the darkness and into God's marvellous light.  Therefore we sing with the Church of all ages:
Blessed be your name, O God, our Redeemer.  By your mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Call to Prayer

O God, like a baker, you bring the leaven which causes our hopes to rise.  With your strong and gentle hands, shape our lives.  Warm us with your love.  Take our common lives and touch them with your grace, that we may nourish hope among humanity.  We pray trusting in your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Almighty God, in a world or change you place eternity in our hearts and gave us power to discern good from evil.  Grant us sincerity, that we may persistently seek the things that endure, refusing those things which perish, and that, amid things vanishing and deceptive, we may see the truth steadily, follow the light faithfully, and grow ever richer in that love which is the life of all people; through Jesus Christ our Savior.
